Veterans Service Program Therapist

The Veterans Service Program Therapist will provide direct clinical services to veterans, dependents, and direct family members using evidence-based practices. 

This position's duties will include the following:

      • Provide direct care to veterans regardless of discharge status. Also serves immediate dependent family members.
      • Provide Individual and Group counseling using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Cognitive Processing Therapy.
      • Provide mental health screenings such as the Beck Depression Inventory, PTSD PCL-5, CSAT Screening. Pre- and post-tests will include PHQ-9 and GAD-7.
      • Topics might include how the veteran and their family are managing their re-acclimation back into civilian life; how to communicate effectively with family and within the community, mood disorders, suicidal ideation, substance use, and other behavioral health needs.
      • Responsible for meeting the TVC grant goals, documenting and tracking data, and reporting progress monthly.
      • Will work closely with Tri-County's Veterans Services Department as needed for referral resources, Veterans support and training; and will attend the Veterans Department weekly team meeting.
      • Complete other duties as assigned by their direct supervisor or a Management Team Member
      • This position is grant funded through the Texas Veterans Commission and will last until August 31, 2026 unless extended.
      • This position is primarily located in Walker County, with travel to Montgomery and Liberty Counties weekly or as needed.
      • In and out of region travel required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Texas Licensed Mental Health Professional 
  • Master's degree in a social services health field 
  • Licensed in the State of Texas as a LPC, LCSW or LMFT
  • LPC-A or LMSW will be considered at a lower rate

Effective January 1, 2017 all Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare campuses are smoke free 

Pay scale:

LPC $66,000/yr

LPC-A - $57,745/yr

Primary Location: Huntsville, TX but will also travel to Montgomery and Liberty counties

Offenses that are not an absolute bar to employment but may be considered a contraindication will also be considered during the pre-employment process. Tri-County will also complete a driver's license check. All applicants, employees, contractors and volunteers will be checked prior to hire and monthly through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Office of the Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals. All applicants are required to successfully complete a drug screening and a physical agility test prior to new hire orientation.

Applicants who are selected for a position in the Criminal Justice/Jail Diversion Department, TCOOMMI, and those who provide services to TCOOMMI, i.e., psychiatrists, nurses, etc., must have a Federal background check by fingerprinting through the FBI upon initial hire and annually thereafter.

Applicants who have lived out of state for two or more years from the date of submission of this application must have a Federal background check by fingerprinting through the FBI if they are selected for a position.
